Eat, Drink and be Merry --Wherever You May Be!

There's a lot you can tell about a place from its doughnuts...

Doughnuts not withstanding, there's much you can learn about a place from its food. Cuisine is as connected to neighborhood and place as much as art walks, school board issues, and climate.

Take Portland, Oregon for example....where placebloggers can lead you to the best hamburgers on the highway or the chic-est wine bar downtown...

Portland Hamburgers takes reviews on hamburgers, veggieburgers, veganburgers and any other burgers in the Portland area. Recently, reviews came in for Mark Lindsay's Rock & Roll Cafe and the Belmont Inn, two very different burgers from two very different burger joints (one can only assume that the Mark Lindsay in question is the former lead singer of Paul Revere and the Raiders...bit of trivia there...)

If you're looking for something a little less burger, cruise over toPortland Food and Drink.com which offers news, reviews, and menus on the Portland food scene. Recently reviewed were the Alu Wine Bar and Lounge and Dove Vivi--also look for blogger Nancy Rommelmann's guide on her review system...

Some blogs talk about food in reference to the place where they live. New Orleans' Food Music Justice recently linked us to Gumbo Tales Sara Roahen's book about the rebuilding of both place and cuisine....

In New Orleans they have a type of doughnut called a beignet, and if you find the best beignets, feel free to let people know where you found them and how good they are at mmmm. . .Doughnuts a review blog that links doughnuts to the places where they can be found. Reviews on the site span the globe, from Victoria, Australia, to Kansai, Japan and Lima, Peru!

If you're looking for something healthier than burgers in Portland or doughunts in Peru, try Vegetarian Granada a blog on the best vegetarian restaurants in Granada, Spain, or A Veggie Venture which catalogues a variety of vegetarian recipes you can cook anytime and anywhere...
