[OR] Portland City Commissioner Sam Adams has started a placeblog -- Commissioner Sam that has a ton of news and lets community members contribute material and photos. Cool.

[MO] Round Rock Journal chronicles the changes in a patch of forest in Missouri. This week? Trees that eat -- rocks, signs, and other stuff. Wow.

[OR] Matt Davis is running an experiment on himself -- becoming a vegan -- and reporting on it at BlogTown PDX: "People have asked me if I’m “longing for a steak,” but honestly, I could take one or leave one. The biggest difference I’ve noticed in the last five days is having a lot more energy, and being far less prone to aggression than normal. On average, I’m not a psycho, but I’ve been less pissed off with Mercury news editor, Scott Moore, this week (and believe me, he can be really annoying, look at the picture below) than usual."

[SC] The Villain at Bluffton Today asks the eternal question: "ANOTHER Nicolas cage movie? Is there no God? What have I done to deserve this?"

[NY] And to think I saw it next to the Gowanus Canal: "Most of my walks down Nevins Street are uneventful, except for the occasional proposition from a prostitute or drug dealer (at 8:00 in the morning? what are they doing up?). This morning, however, I looked up, and this is what I saw."

[CA] SFist: The Sea Lions are Coming! Great photos.
